SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS
Reports To: Tech Lead / Team Lead, PHP
Supervises: There are no supervisory requirements from an administrative perspective. However, an SSD does have mentoring responsibility for junior developers and trainees in the PHP team. These individuals are deployed to projects in a matrixed organization structure, at which time they report to Team Lead / Tech Lead for all project issues.

BASIC FUNCTION
A Senior Developer within team is responsible for the technical design and technical documentation of projects that have been specified by Program Management in addition to the tasks and responsibilities of a Senior Developer. They need to possess a rock solid understanding of theory and excellent debugging skills. They work with the Team Lead / Tech Lead on a project, where the TL is responsible for the delivery of the project as specified and the Architect is responsible for specifying exactly what is to be built to meet the requirements of the Business. They also should be able to: work closely with the TL to suggest improvements within the overall vision for the project; ask questions at the architecture level and not at a low implementation level; and serve as a resource and mentor for less experienced developers. You should also be able to trust him or her to transform a set of class diagrams into quality code with little oversight. A “senior developer” should not require handholding.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
¢ Leads 2 – 3 persons team technically acting as component / module lead
¢ Participates in requirement, design and planning as required
¢ Writes code, database and other technical artifacts applying coding standards
¢ Plans and executes formal unit tests
¢ Provides timely delivery and status to Tech Lead / Team Lead
¢ Performs database design, administration and optimization activities while working with TL.
¢ Participates in the elicitation of technical design as appropriate. Reviews design for understandability, completeness and feasibility from a developer’s perspective.
¢ Must have worked with CMMi processes; Should have knowledge of CMMi compliance
¢ Drives the completion of low-level detailed designs and specifications. Coordinates and conducts peer reviews, and documents the results and tracks all issues to closure.
¢ Provides oversight and supervision of the development activities for junior developers and trainees. Provides ongoing technical support and trouble-shooting for them.
¢ Follows the configuration management approach for the project.
¢ Resolves reported defects and assures the correction of prioritized defects in case handled by junior developers.

OTHER DUTIES
¢ Participate in external technology forums.
¢ Perform other duties as assigned by managers.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
¢ A Graduate in Computer Science or related technology
¢ Formal training in structured software development processes and techniques
¢ Certification in MySQL and / or PHP is a plus.

Experience:
¢ 4 – 8 years of software development experience is required.
¢ 3+ Extensive experience in working with CSS, HTML, JavaScript, PHP & MySql
¢ 2+ Performs database design, administration and optimization activities while working with TL.
¢ Hands-on experience in Linux environments with at least 1 IDE and various other development tools such as Eclipse, SQLyog, Putty & WinSCP et cetera.
¢ Must have worked with CMMi processes; Should have knowledge of CMMi compliance
¢ Good analysis and testing skills are required.
¢ Good Knowledge on AJAX, XML & at least 1 framework implementing MVC architectural design pattern
¢ Exposure to UML, Java, TDD is an added advantage
¢ Prior experience in developing solutions in an onsite/offshore engagement model is highly desirable.
¢ A well-rounded understanding of technology development and business processes is required.

Other Knowledge, Skills, Abilities or Certifications:
¢ Participated in at least 1 project life cycle as an SSD or equivalent
¢ Proficient with OOPS in the PHP paradigm
¢ Proficient with documentation and need to be an excellent team player
